8 Guitar Chords Every Beginner Should Know

Start your guitar journey today: ►https://ift.tt/39yNwcp Download the workout chords and scale chart here: ►https://ift.tt/3sqOShv 0:00 - Intro Every guitarist should know these eight chords because they are used forever in your guitar-playing life. 0:21 - E Major The first chord on the list is the first chord many guitarists learn to play. 0:49 - E Minor All you do is remove your first finger from the E Major shape, and you have an E minor chord! 1:19 - A Major A is the starting note of the chord, so you strum from the A string down. 1:59 - D Major There are many cool ways to play the D Major chord. Once you’re comfortable with the shape, try adding your pinky on the third fret of the high E string and taking your middle finger on and off. 3:30 - C Major The C Major chord is one you’re going to run into A LOT. 4:05 - C Major7 Take your first finger off of the C chord shape and you’ll get C Major7. It’s a richer and fuller sounding C Major chord. 4:50 - G Major There are different ways to play this chord shape that only uses three of your fingers, but in this G Major shape that uses all four fingers. It’s good practice to play chords that use all of your fingers. 5:59 - G Major Special This chord is a great stepping stone for when you begin to play bar chords. 10-Minute Guitar Practice Routine

Start your guitar journey today: ►https://ift.tt/39yNwcp Download the workout chords and scale chart here: ►https://ift.tt/2QqgFkp ►https://ift.tt/30YrxYx 0:00 - Intro Ayla Tesler-Mabe put together a 10-minute workout routine to help build dexterity in your fingers so you can jam out on the guitar with ease. 0:30 - Open Chords The chords you will be playing in this workout are A Major, D Major, and E Major which you'll eventually turn into an A7, D7, and E7 chord. 1:04 - Minor Pentatonic Scale The scale you'll be encountering is the minor pentatonic scale. You'll be moving the scale around and add a few extra notes to it as well! 1:29 - 12-Bar Blues Progression The practice starts with the open chords for a 12-bar blues progression. Follow along with Ayla and the chord charts to play in time with her! Repeat this step a couple of times to get your playing hand flowing. 2:58 - Changing Chords You'll be doing the same progression but changing the chords to make it bluesier! You can play quarter notes or whole notes -- whatever you're vibing with! 4:06 - Changing strumming Pattern Now you're gonna swing the strumming pattern by adding an up-strum to your chord progression. 5:17 - A Minor Pentatonic Scale You'll be starting on the 5th fret -- Download the chart above to follow along with the minor pentatonic scale. 6:31 - F# Minor Pentatonic Scale Now move the same scale down three frets and run through this scale a few times. It's great to practice both of these so you can solo over the chord progression you played earlier in the video. 7:05 - Add Extra Note Go back to the A minor Pentatonic scale but add a sharp 4 note to give it more of a blues tone. This also is a great finger exercise to build dexterity. 8:33 - Major/Minor Hybrid Pentatonic Scale Now do the same thing down three frets to turn this minor pentatonic into a hybrid scale. 9:40 - Dexterity Exercise Use all of your fingers now to warm them all up, especially your middle finger (it hasn't moved much)! It also helps to keep your fingers as close to the strings as possible. 11:04 - Speed it Up Keep doing what you're doing but now try speeding it up. Playing with a metronome will help with changing the tempo to improve your speed and timing. 11:32 - Triplets You make it to the last exercise -- keep doing the same scale but now with triplets! It may be a bit difficult at first, but keep at it and you'll see improvement! 5 Most Beautiful Guitar Chords for Beginners

Start your guitar journey today: ►https://ift.tt/39yNwcp Download the tabs here: ►https://ift.tt/2ONbU3k 0:00 - Intro 1:27 - E minor Add9 Keep the regular E minor shape and place your first finger on the 2nd fret of the A string and your pinky on the 4th fret of the D string. All of the other strings are left open creating a very different and luscious sound from the original chord. 2:36 - A sus2 Make an A major chord but then remove your finger off the B string, and that’s it! You can play the A sus2 chord instead of an A major chord to create a pretty chord progression. 4:09 - “Special” E major The E major chord is another beginner guitar chord you might already know. What makes this shape so special is that you can move it all around the neck of the guitar. When you strum the open strings that surround your finger on the fretboard, they emit very colorful notes. 5:44 - F major7#11 To play this chord, put your first finger on the 1st fret of the low E string, your third finger on the 3rd fret of the A string, your pinky on the 3rd fret of the D string, and your middle finger on the 2nd fret of the G string. If you’re familiar with major bar chord shapes, you’ll notice that this chord is essentially the major shape but with the bar lifted. 7:22 - A minor9 Place your middle finger on the 5th fret of the low E string, your third finger on the 5th fret of the D string, and your pinky on the 5th fret of the G string. It’s not difficult to play and can create some cool harmonies when moved around the guitar. 5 Guitar Licks To Make You Stand Out

Start your guitar journey today: ►www.Guitareo.com/guitar-quest/ Download the tabs here: ►https://ift.tt/3bitQvn 0:00 -- Intro The minor pentatonic is a go-to scale when shredding solos — but to play a fresh guitar lick, you’ll have to break out of that scale. Ayla Tesler-Mabe plays and explains five Steely Dan songs that are great examples of breaking out of that box. She breaks down each lick phrase by phrase so you can play along. 1:38 - Lick 1: Daddy Don't Live In That New York City No More This lick is centered around the E minor pentatonic shape but with other notes outside of the scale thrown in for more colors. 3:25 - Lick 2: Don't Take Me Alive This particular lick has a half-step bend and is a perfect lick to work on your vibrato. The vibrato is key to making the lick sound as good as it does. 5:18 - Lick 3: Everything You Did This lick is also played in the E minor pentatonic shape but arranged in an order that makes it sound different than your usual minor pentatonic licks. This lick also has a lot of bends -- only the last bend comes down while the first two bends up and don't come back down. 7:11 - Lick 4: Kid Charlemagne This might be one of Larry Carlton’s most iconic guitar licks. Don’t forget to add vibrato to the last note to give it more emotion. 8:39 - Lick 5: I Got The News This is the ending phrase of the solo and is probably the most exotic lick from this list because it uses the harmonic minor scale. This lick is a great lesson in space, as there’s lots of space in between each phrasing.
