In today's lesson, Ayla is joined by Lisa Witt from our sister channel, Singeo, to provide a few tips and tricks to help you through the process of playing and singing together. 1:13 - Tip #1 You want to have a solid grasp on the song and be comfortable with one of the two first before you try to do both together. 1:41 - Tip #2 Simplify the guitar part (shredding can wait!) so you can focus on your vocals to apply it to the guitar chords of the song. 4:30 - Tip #3 Start adding the lyrics. The sooner you start getting the lyrics down, the sooner you’ll internalize the song on a deeper level. 6:18 - Tip #4 Try sprucing up the guitar part now. Try out different guitar grooves and techniques that work with the song and best supports your vocals. 10:20 - Tip #5 Take advantage of the capo! Unlock 9 New Guitar Skills (FREE)►https://ift.tt/377u9r1 Ayla's favorite music products ►https://bit.ly/3a3ilae 0:00 - Intro To celebrate Star Wars Day, Ayla Tesler-Mabe re-creates 5 Iconic sounds from the Star Wars franchise with only her guitar and a couple of effect pedals. 0:21 - Battle Alarm This sound is created by sliding up the guitar fretboard to the bend note to the right pitch. 2:20 - R2-D2 Ayla slides the tremolo bar along the strings above the pickups and tries a tapping technique to give it a whistling noise. 3:55 - Cantina Song To get the reverberating slapback that resembles the steel drums so prominently, Ayla uses a single guitar effect -- digital delay. 5:46 - Lightsaber Ayla finds the pitch between F# and G by pushing the tremolo bar and adds volume swells. 7:45 - Wookie Scream Ayla bends the G string on the 4th fret and releases the bend to get it a bit flatter than the B to resemble the dissonance of a Wookie scream.
