8 Mistakes With Guitar Pedals

World’s Largest Guitar Effect Pedalboard ►https://ift.tt/34jxMXB Sweetwater Pedalboard & Amp Giveaway ►https://ift.tt/2F2N0pf The folks over at Sweetwater sent me an awesome pedalboard full of 10 drive pedals. They used it in their epic video with Rob Scallon on creating the world’s largest pedalboard. When I think back on my history with pedals I fondly remember the process of discovery. It’s so fun finally finding the tones you hear on the records of your idols. But I also think about all the mistakes I have made with pedals over the years. Remember: Pedals can be a lot of fun, but make sure that they are working for you, and not against you. Pedal giveaway details! We’re giving away 3 of the pedals that were used in the making of the record-breaking pedalboard to three lucky people on YouTube. All you have to do is comment below “what’s the biggest guitar pedal mistake you've made or seen someone else make?". We’ll choose the 3 winners at random on September 4th! The prize draw will be at noon PDT on September 4th, 2019. Winners will be contacted through the YouTube comments with instructions on how to claim their prize. Pedals will be shipped free of charge to any location worldwide - but winners are responsible for any customs or duty charges. No cash value. These pedals have no boxes, manuals, or rubber feet - but they do have history! Good luck! #Sweetwater #LargestPedalboard #Sponsored

Your First Bluegrass Guitar Lesson

Get my FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 Bluegrass is one of the most popular styles of music to play on the acoustic guitar. It might seem like it’s hard to get into, but in reality, bluegrass guitar uses some very basic concepts that any beginner guitar player can grasp. In this lesson, Nate Savage will show you how to get started playing bluegrass songs on the guitar. The first important thing you need to know is the open chords in the key of G major. The vast majority of bluegrass songs are played using chords from the key of G major. The most important ones are G major, C major, D major, E minor, and A minor (sometimes A major). The second thing you need to know is how to use a capo. Capos are an amazing tool for bluegrass guitarists because they allow you to play the chords you already know in any key. Need to play in the key of C major? Put the capo at the 5th fret and play the chords from the key of G major. It’s that easy. That’s all you really need to know to get started playing bluegrass songs on the guitar! If you need extra help with basic techniques like changing chords and playing clean chords, be sure to check out our other helpful guitar lessons! The Most Important Guitar Accessory

Download the free resources for learning Free Fallin': ►https://ift.tt/2MIiGoY Get my FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 When you’re playing songs on the acoustic guitar, there’s one accessory that will totally change your experience. Capos simply create a moveable bar that you can put on any fret. This allows you to play the exact same chords but be in any key you want. If a song is in a challenging key where you don’t know all the chords, you can throw on a capo and play some simple open chords. In this lesson, we’ll be changing the key of Free Fallin’ using a capo. This is especially useful when a song feels like it’s too high or too low to sing. With a capo, you can raise or lower the key of the song so that it’s in a more comfortable spot. If you don’t have a capo, there are a few tutorials out there on how you can put together a makeshift one. They are, however, fairly affordable and a helpful tool every campfire guitar player should have at the ready. When someone asks, “what can you play on the guitar?”

Get my FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 Have you ever been in a social situation where someone asked you “what can you play?”. For many new guitar players, this can be a particularly scary interaction. Most guitarists don’t have recognizable songs prepared to play whenever someone asks them to. In this video, Rudy Ayoub illustrates just how awkward it can be to not know what you’re supposed to do when someone asks you to play something for them on the guitar. Situations like these are why we always recommend everyone learn some basic songs on the guitar no matter where you’re at with your playing. Change Chords Like A Boss - Campfire Guitarist Quick-Start Series #4

Get my FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 Probably the biggest problem area for new guitar players is being able to change between open guitar chords smoothly. Because it’s such a big stumbling block, many guitarists get stuck here and end up quitting. We want to make sure that doesn’t happen. So in this lesson, we’ll be covering the most important tips for changing chords smoothly. The first tip is to know the individual chord shapes you’re changing between very well. Next, you want to limit the chords your're changing between to just two. The third tip is to know the entire progression like the back of your hand so you don’t have to think about it. Next, you want to practice awareness and be present so you know where you are in the song. Lastly, you’ll want to work on thinking about the way the next chord looks and feels before the change so you’re not caught off guard. Implementing these tips and spending some time practicing is guaranteed to have you changing between chords like a total boss. It may take a few days or weeks of practice. But if you focus on making this a part of your daily time with the guitar, you’ll notice smoother chord changes in no time! Instantly Find The Key Of Your Favorite Song - Guitar Lesson

Get my FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 One of the most useful skills you can learn as a guitar player is being able to find the key of a song by ear. You might think this skill is reserved for the gifted few, but there are some simple processes that you can follow to find the key of just about any song. In this guitar lesson, Andrew Clarke will show you his system for identifying the key of your favorite song. The first thing you’ll need to know is a basic major scale shape. This can be any major scale shape, but in this case, we’ll use a 3-string E major scale. Take some time to get it under your fingers so you don’t have to think about it too much. Now we’ll take that shape and move it up and down the fretboard while listening to the song we’re trying to find the key of. Eventually, one of the positions will sound like it “fits”. That location gives you the key of the song. Simply locate the root notes of the scale shape and that’s the key you’re in. You may not be able to immediately notice which one fits, but the more often you work on this, the quicker and easier it will be to identify the key. If you’re still struggling with this method, you can try adding some ear training exercises to your daily practice time. It won’t be long before finding keys of songs becomes instantaneous for you. How To Fix Annoying String Buzz On Your Guitar

Get my FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 There is nothing more annoying than getting string buzz and rattle while you play your guitar. You might immediately think there’s something wrong with your guitar, but in many cases, you can solve the issue with an adjustment to your technique. So in this guitar lesson, we’ll talk about the things you can do to fix buzz on your guitar. That will include technique adjustments as well as adjustments you can make to your guitar to get rid of buzz and rattle. Depending on how your guitar is set up, it might be as simple as just tweaking your playing technique a little bit. Make sure you’re coming down right behind the frets and right on your fingertips. If you can eliminate the buzzing by moving your fingers around, you’ll know it’s a technique issue. If the technique tweaks don’t fix it, then you can look into making some guitar adjustments. The ones we’ll cover in this lesson are dressing frets, replacing the nut, and shimming the saddle. These are things you can learn to do yourself if you’re brave, or you can pay someone and have it done professionally. 5 Essential Campfire Strumming Patterns - Campfire Guitarist Quick-Start Series #3

Get my FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 As a campfire guitarist, you can really get away with just a few important strumming patterns. In this guitar lesson, we’ll be taking a look at the five essential strumming patterns every campfire guitar player should know. They might not be an exact match to the strumming patterns you’ll find in every song, but they’ll fit most. Before we get into the patterns, it’s important that we talk about strumming technique. The first technique tip is to relax everything. Your shoulder, elbow, wrist, and fingers should all be loose and floppy. Next, you’ll want to make sure you’re rotating your wrist when you strum. Lastly, you’ll want to experiment with different pick grips and make sure you don’t dig into the strings too much with your pick. Add these strumming patterns to your daily practice routine. If you’re new to strumming, you might want to isolate your downstrokes and upstrokes and practice them individually. Once you’ve nailed the technique, these patterns should be pretty easy to add to your toolbox. Digital vs. Analog - Who is the king of SILENT guitar rigs?

Get my FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 For decades now, there has been a fiery debate as to whether analog or digital guitar rigs reign supreme. We know where we stand. But when it comes to playing guitar at home, what’s the ultimate solution? We put two completely silent guitar rigs head to head in this video so we could see if an analog tube amp and reactive load box or a guitar amp modeling plugin sounded better. A great analogy for the analog vs. digital argument is running. Digital solutions are a lot like running on a treadmill. They get the job done, but it’s not the same as running outside. When you run outside, you feel the wind in your face, and there’s no other way to get that experience -- just like a cranked-up tube amp. While we might sound a little biased, the winner here is up to you. Listen to the sound clips provided in the video so you can hear the differences yourself. No matter what choice you make for your own personal rig, you can get excellent guitar tone out of a completely silent guitar rig. The signal chains used in this video are: Digital - American 60th Anniversary Strat - Scarlett 2i2 - Logic Pro X - Logic Tape Delay - Helix Native - Minotaur Overdrive Model - Brit Blexi Brt Model - Greenback Model Cab with 160 & 57 mics. Analog - American 60th Anniversary Strat - Xotic EP Booster - Analog Man King of Tone - Rivera Knucklehead 55 Lead Channel - Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander - Logic Pro X - Logic Tape Delay - Celestion Creamback Impulse Response with 121 & 57 mics.
