What To Do If You Break Your String Mid-Song - Guitar Lesson

THIS WEEK ONLY -- Save 86% and get The Guitar System for just $27! ►https://goo.gl/ZNWWFE One of the biggest fears of a gigging guitarist is breaking a string mid-song. Thankfully, there are a few things you can do to prevent this from happening. We’ll be covering those things in this lesson. We’ll also be going over what you can do if your string does happen to break during a live performance. The best things you can do to prevent string breakage are washing your hands and cleaning your strings. This slows the build-up grime on your guitar as well as slowing the oxidization process. Changing your strings often is another way to prevent this issue. If you notice your strings breaking frequently, you may want to get your saddles checked for any bumps or burrs. Before we even get into what to do If you do happen to break a string during a song, make sure you always carry an extra set of strings with you. Practice changing your strings quickly and efficiently. One thing that helps for quick string changes is locking tuners. A trick for playing through a string-break is learning to adjust to playing with five strings on the fly. This will mean quickly tuning your guitar up after the break since it’ll throw off the tension on the neck. Another key is to be able to improvise and play the same parts on different parts of the guitar. That way, if you’re left without a necessary string for a riff, you can still play that riff elsewhere. Preventative measures will always be your best bet. But if the worst does happen, these tips should help you get through the rest of the song without too much trouble! How to sound REALLY good at guitar (even if you’re not)

For more funny guitar videos from Rudy Ayoub, be sure to check out his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmr_2dlYM0pYHdI9TeF5SIQ Learning to play the guitar can be a massive undertaking. And when you’re starting out, it might feel like sounding “good” is a lifetime away. In this video, we’re joined by Rudy Ayoub to get into a few things you can do to make people think you’re better at the guitar than you really are! Follow us for more great guitar lessons and videos! ►Facebook: http://bit.ly/2JUWlmF ►Instagram: http://bit.ly/2MqVEUg The first tip is to avoid playing in front of people whenever you can. If they don’t see you playing, you can tell them you’re great and you’ll never need to prove it! On a more serious note, focus on playing notes that sound good together. Things like minor thirds, major thirds, and fifths all tend to sound pleasing to the ear. Another trick is to play basic chords by picking through them instead of strumming. Doing this with some delay and reverb almost always makes you sound like more of an expert. You can do this same thing with one basic arpeggio shape that you move around as well. The last tip is to learn a few popular songs that people like to sing along to. This will take the focus off of your guitar playing and put it on the wanna-be vocalists. Try using a few of these tips out for yourself and see how it works for you. You might be surprised just easy it is to impress your audience!

Even the “F-tier” brands make some amazing guitars that any player should be proud to own. The brands ranked in this video are Anderson Guitars, Jackson Guitars, Squier Guitars, ESP Guitars, Godin Guitars, B.C. Rich Guitars, Dean Guitars, Ibanez Guitars, Fender Guitars, PRS Guitars, Suhr Guitars, Duesenberg Guitars, Gretsch Guitars, Yamaha Guitars, Epiphone Guitars, Ernie Ball Music Man Guitars, Schecter Guitars, and Gibson Guitars. Should A Beginner Start With An Acoustic Guitar?

THIS WEEK ONLY -- Save 86% and get The Guitar System for just $27! ►https://goo.gl/ZNWWFE For years, guitar teachers have always recommended that new guitar players start learning on an acoustic guitar. Have you ever wondered why that is? If you only have interest in playing rock or metal music, why would playing an acoustic guitar make sense? Many people say that starting on an acoustic guitar is a great way to build hand and finger strength. But the reality is that it’s simply the heavier gauge strings that make it harder to play. So realistically, you can build up your strength and dexterity on any type of guitar. One of the great things about starting with an acoustic, however, is that it’s easy to grab and go. There aren’t any fancy effects or amplifiers to worry about. All you have to worry about is playing the instrument. This makes it easy to focus on learning and not falling down the endless guitar-gear rabbit hole. At the end of the day, play whichever instrument makes you want to pick it up and play it. And if that’s electric guitar, don’t feel like you need to go buy an acoustic guitar first. Playing the guitar is all about having fun! Which Electric Guitar Should I Buy? (for any budget)

THIS WEEK ONLY -- Save 86% and get The Guitar System for just $27! ►https://goo.gl/ZNWWFE When it’s time to buy a new electric guitar, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the vast array of options on the market. In this video, we hope to help you narrow down the search and hone in on your perfect electric guitar. The main guitar camps covered in this lesson: Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, & Ibanez. The first question you need to ask yourself is “how much do I want to spend?”. You can get a great guitar at almost any price point these days, so even if you don’t have much money to spend, you can still get yourself a quality instrument. It is important to note that it’s typically best to go no lower than about $300 USD. The first thing you want to consider is whether you want humbuckers or single coil pickups. After that, you’ll need to decide on a set neck guitar or a bolt-on neck guitar. Next, you’ll need to choose whether you want a solid body, semi-hollow body, or fully-hollow body. Finally, you should ask yourself if you need a tremolo or not. Once you’ve made your choices, you can start shopping for your new electric guitar. In the end, it’s important that you like the way it feels and that you like the way it looks. This is YOUR guitar after all. Lastly, remember to check out used guitars on websites like Craigslist. You can usually find a great deal on a higher-quality guitar. If you don’t know a lot about guitars, make sure you bring a knowledgeable friend so you don’t get ripped off! 7 Songs To Rock Your Power Chords - Guitar Lesson

THIS WEEK ONLY -- Save 86% and get The Guitar System for just $27! ►https://goo.gl/ZNWWFE Download the tabs for this lesson here: http://bit.ly/2KGNB2Z In this guitar lesson, Nate Savage is here to share seven great songs for working on your power chords. Power chords are an absolute staple in every guitar player’s arsenal. If you want to play rock music, they are a totally essential tool you’ll likely use more than any other type of guitar chord. Power chords are commonly referred to as “5 chords”. This is because they only contain the root note and the fifth. This is unlike most chords you might play which have a root, third, and a fifth. Since power chords don’t have a major or minor third, they can be played in place of either chord. This quality makes them extra handy to pull out in a pinch. The songs you’ll learn in this guitar lesson are “Beverly Hills” by Weezer, “When You Were Young” by The Killers, “Tubthumping” by Chumbawamba, “Use Somebody” by Kings Of Leon, “1979” by The Smashing Pumpkins, “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World, and “All The Small Things” by Blink 182. Choose a few of these tunes that you’d like to incorporate into your daily practice time. And be sure to download the tabs so you can follow along! 7-String, 8-String, & 9-String Guitars 101 - Extended Range Guitar Lesson

Get the FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 Check out Andrew Baena's YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa_BC8f_XoUTGujN8NjsMng When you think of a guitar, what comes to mind? In most cases, it’s an acoustic or electric instrument with 6-strings. But there’s a growing guitar-niche in which guitars begin magically growing extra strings and traveling into bass guitar territory. Mostly, that space is the many subgenres of metal, however, these days, it’s becoming more and more common to see them in rock, jazz, and other more popular styles. In this lesson, Andrew Baena joins us to give you the rundown on extended range guitars. These guitars typically sport 7-strings, 8-strings, 9-strings, and sometimes even more! And they give a guitar player the ability to go extra low. That usually means having the bass tuned even lower, or ditched altogether. It’s important to note that there is a difference between “extended range” guitars and “extended scale” guitars. While extended range guitars give you the ability to go lower through having access to more strings, extended scale guitars have a greater distance between the nut and saddles. This gives you more room to tune the guitar lower. Both are good options for reaching lower notes, and the right choice comes down to what you prefer and what your specific needs are. Make Your Boring Power Chords Sound “Progressive” - Prog Rock Guitar Lesson

Get the FREE Beginner Guitar Starter Kit! ►https://goo.gl/Ts2uU6 Check out Become The Knight's YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBIObHID9vYsowPtbYKVdMw Bands like Opeth, Yes, Rush, Porcupine Tree, and Dream Theater are all popular examples of “progressive rock” -- or more commonly, “prog rock”. The genre is marked by its use of many jazz and classical music concepts in place of the traditional pop elements. In this video, we’re joined by Mike from Become The Knight to discuss five ways you can sound more progressive on the guitar. Change One Fret In Your Power Chord The first thing you can do is change one of the notes in your traditional power chord shape. Power chords are designed to sound very harmonious, so simply changing one of the notes in the chord instantly adds flavor. Experiment with moving different notes in the shape and see what you come up with! Leave Notes Alone! When transitioning from one chord to another (especially when the chords don’t share the same key), try leaving including one of the notes from the first chord in the second chord. It works best if that note is played on the exact same fret and string. This is a great way to tie together two chords that shouldn’t be played back to back. Planing Planing is an old classical music technique that involves playing an arpeggio or phrase up and down the neck in semitone increments. This can tend to sound pretty dissonant, but it is an effective way to create a “rising” or “falling” feeling in the music. Cut Some Beats A popular way to “prog-ify” your riffs is using interesting time signatures. This can be as simple as just cutting a beat or two off at the end of a riff. This immediately grabs the listener’s attention and creates musical tension. Listen & Learn The last way to sound more progressive on the guitar is to listen to the artists you want to sound more like. This will help your brain to get used to the ideas and concepts common in this style of music and eventually find its way into your playing. If you’re feeling up to the task, you can even try learning some of your favorite prog rock tunes!
