"Home Sweet Home" - Motley Crue Guitar Lesson

Get my brand new FREE series: Acoustic Guitar Jumpstart ►http://bit.ly/2E43Pjj “Home Sweet Home” by Motley Crue is considered to be one of the greatest power ballads of all time. In this guitar lesson, we’ll be learning to play an acoustic version of the iconic song. Since we’ll be playing the piano part on our guitar as well, you should be prepared to use both strumming and fingerpicking techniques throughout this song. Many of Motley Crue’s songs were played in D standard tuning; however, we’ll be using E standard tuning here so you don’t need to worry about altering anything on your guitar. As you move through the lesson, you might find a few new chords and shapes, so be sure you download the PDF sheet music to help you follow along. Add this version of “Home Sweet Home” to your daily practice time and work towards executing all of the different parts perfectly. If you enjoyed learning this song, you might want to dig into some other Motley Crue tunes as well! Bad at Bar Chords? Try THIS Instead!

Get my brand new FREE series: Acoustic Guitar Jumpstart ►http://bit.ly/2E43Pjj Bar chords are one of those topics that scare a lot of guitar players. That reason is because they are really hard. They take an immense amount of strength and dexterity to pull off cleanly, and you have to learn them pretty early on in your playing career if you want to take the guitar seriously. Well, have no fear! In this lesson, Andrew Clarke is here to show us a useful alternative to bar chords that’ll totally change the way you look at the fretboard. The primary concept you’ll be working on is how to use your thumb. You may not be used to using it to fret notes on the low E string, so spend some time nailing down the technique before jumping into full chords. Remember, if your thumb starts to hurt, take a break. You’re likely using some new muscles, and developing the strength to play this new shape might take a few days. Add this new technique to your daily practice time and employ the tips from the video - if all goes well, you’ll find yourself using this new shape all the time in your playing! Hallelujah - Guitar Lesson

Get my brand new FREE series: Acoustic Guitar Jumpstart ►http://bit.ly/2E43Pjj Originally written and performed by Leonard Cohen, “Hallelujah” remains one of the most popular and powerful songs of the last century. In this step-by-step guitar lesson, we’ll be learning Jeff Buckley’s beautiful fingerstyle version. The great thing about this song is that you only need to learn one verse and one chorus, since the rest of the song repeats those two sections. To get as close as possible to the original, you’ll want to use a capo to play this song. So even though the song is in the key of C, we’ll be using chords from the key of G major with our capo placed on the 5th fret. Make sure you download the PDF sheet music for this version of “Hallelujah”. It may take you some time to get down the coordination to play the entire piece all the way through. Take your time and break the song down into digestible chunks. With some consistent practice, you’ll have this entire tune down in no time! 5 HUGE Guitar Practice Mistakes

Get my brand new FREE series: Acoustic Guitar Jumpstart ►http://bit.ly/2E43Pjj Do you ever feel like your practice time could go much better? Well, there are some key mistakes a lot of guitarists make while practicing that stop them from seeing real progress. In this lesson, we’ll take a look at the top five guitar practice mistakes you might be making. The first of these is practicing through mistakes in your playing. When you do this, you are essentially programming the mistakes into your muscle-memory. Oftentimes, that means slowing things right down and focusing on accuracy over speed. Going hand in hand with the first mistake, practicing something too fast is a surefire way to get yourself into trouble. Thinking that kinks will work themselves out is another way to program mistakes into your playing. If someone can recognize what you’re practicing, then you’re likely playing it too fast. The third way to sabotage your progress is practicing inconsistently. It is very important that you try and practice as close to every day as possible. Even if it means cutting back your practice time to 20-minutes per day, consistent practice delivers huge results. The next mistake guitar players make is practicing without any sort of plan in place. Take some time to write down your guitar goals, and making sure they meet the S.M.A.R.T. criteria: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, & Time-Bound. If your goals meet these requirements, you’ll be setting yourself up for maximum success. The fifth and final practice mistake is not practicing with a musical goal in mind. Learning a bunch of chords, strumming patterns, and scales is great, but if you can’t put them together to play music you’re going to get demotivated and lose momentum. Choose a simple song that you can learn alongside everything else to make sure things stay musical. Reflect on your own guitar practice and try implementing a few of these strategies to improve the time you spend on the guitar. We all have busy schedules, and getting the most out of your practice time is a great way to get even more joy out of playing the guitar. Building Coordination For Fingerstyle Guitar

Get my brand new FREE series: Acoustic Guitar Jumpstart ►http://bit.ly/2E43Pjj Fingerstyle is one of the most popular styles of acoustic guitar playing. In this lesson, we’ll take a look at six exercises that will help you build coordination and dexterity for fingerstyle guitar. If you spend a little time each day working through this material, you’ll develop the muscle memory required to easily learn new fingerpicking patterns. To start, we’ll keep it simple: focus on nailing down the thumb technique. Choose either the E string or the A string and practice using your thumb to pick the string. Once you get the hang of it, you can alternate between the E string and A string to build up some accuracy and coordination. As you progress through this lesson, the guitar exercises will get more and more complex. Take your time, and don’t feel like you need to move through everything at once. It may take you a few weeks or months to master the exercises. But once you’ve got them down, you’ll be ready to tackle just about any fingerpicking pattern you want to learn. How does 200ft of guitar cable impact your tone?

Get my brand new FREE series: Acoustic Guitar Jumpstart ►http://bit.ly/2E43Pjj Huge thanks to the team from Hosa Technologies for custom making us the two 100' instrument cables for this video! If you need great cables, check out: https://hosatech.com/ You’d think a long guitar cable would be a more useful investment than a short one, right? Well, there’s a reason you rarely see guitar cables longer 25 feet. There’s a very important reason for this, and in this video we’ll be using two 100-foot-long cables from Hosa Technology to show you exactly how cable length affects your guitar tone. As you listen to the sound examples, you’ll hear that as the cable gets longer, there’s less and less top-end on the signal. This “darkening” of your guitar tone happens because of something called capacitance. To keep it simple, think of it this way: The longer the cable, the more capacitance is introduced. The higher the capacitance, the less high-end in your guitar tone. One way to deal with this loss of high frequencies is to add a buffer pedal to your signal chain. Guitar effect pedals are either buffered bypass or true bypass, so you’ll need one with a buffered bypass to do this. While adding a buffer between two 100-foot cables won’t make it sound like you’re playing with 10-foot cables, it’ll still make a noticeable difference and minimize the signal degradation you’re experiencing. Now that you’ve heard the differences between cable lengths, try experimenting with your own rig to find that “sweet spot” and achieve the guitar tone you’re chasing. 8 Fingerstyle Patterns You Must Know

Get my brand new FREE series: Acoustic Guitar Jumpstart ►http://bit.ly/2E43Pjj There are many reasons to explore fingerstyle technique on the guitar. Fingerstyle is a useful skill to have when accompanying another player (like writing moving melodies over someone else’s open chords), or during a solo acoustic guitar performance. To get you started, we’ll be going over 8 important fingerpicking patterns everyone should know. In this lesson, you’ll learn essential techniques like rolling and alternating bass patterns. You’ll recognize these in many other patterns you’ll learn in the future, so it’s important to nail them down early. Don’t feel like you need to memorize all of the patterns we go over here. Grab a few that you think you’ll use, and add them to your daily practice routine. As you master those patterns, feel free to come back to this lesson and add a couple more to your repertoire.
